Your Little Lizard Brain…

AMYGDALA (uh mig’ dull uh) Code name: “The Lizard Brain.” This little almond nugget, that sits on top of our brain stem, is the location where the perception of ourselves and others is built. Here, emotional learning and affective behavior (e.g. fear, anger) compel our given actions.

You’re probably wondering, just what in the world does “Lizard Brain” have to do with being an entrepreneur? Well, just about everything! I read this in a great book Making Ideas Happen by Scott Belsky, the founder and CEO of Behance (a leading platform for creative professionals). Belsky describes a lecture Seth Godin (yes that one) gave discussing how this tiny little organ keeps 97% of the population from the completion of projects and the realization of our goals. Our amygdala is what keeps us fearful. Fearful of the acceptance of our ideas, change and new challenges. It sabotages our confidence and compels us to play it safe. Then what do we do? We end up perpetually second guessing ourselves and remain stagnant in the pursuit of our ambitions.

Our biological tendencies are tough to conquer sometimes. We all probably have a few things we just can’t seem to stop doing. However, being fearful is not one of them. Fear is conquerable. The truth of the situation is; most of the obstacles to our success are self-inflicted. We worry about acceptance, looming failure or public ridicule. Let me tell you, as a person who definitely has experienced my fair share of disappointment, the last thing that matters is what other people think! Sure we all have occasional missteps, but it is the very acceptance of risk, and failure for that matter, that empowers us to achieve our dreams and goals.

The next time you’re feeling your confidence shaken, or that annoying tinge of fear; embrace your intellect, your creativity and your passion. Shut up that lizard. After all you will never hit a home run if you don’t keep swinging.

getting ready to have her 18th
birthday this week on Wednesday.

been the easiest one of 3 girls to raise.
She started putting herself to bed at age 3
and has been very responsible about doing
her part to contribute to our household.
Jessica rarely complains about her chores
and does her homework without us asking.

It is truly awesome to see someone her
age with so much focus and drive to succeed.
She knows exactly what she wants and is
going for it! She gives of herself in so many
ways to those that require support and love
with no strings attached.Jessica is an
inspiration to us all.

So, what is it that you want? What are you
focused on achieving? Are you creating the
life you dream of? Are you contributing to the
lives of others around you who need love and
support? Or are you just barely getting by and
focused on making ends meet? You might be
thinking…Jerry what is this all about? I would say
it is about you and I finding a way to free up our
personal resources of time, energy, and money
in order to touch someone else’s life.

BUT, if you and I are poor in these resources
we are not able to give back and instead spend
our time, energy, and money…on ourselves
and our needs.

Did I get scammed?

Greetings from Jerry Myers,

Just had a thought in my mind
I really wanted to share with you.
It involves my 13-yr old daughter Lindsey.
Give me just a couple of minutes.

Let me explain…did I get scammed?

My daughter came home from school on Monday and
proceeded to cover all the reasons she wanted to
be on Student Council. It was neat to see her excitement
and desire to lead. As I listened though I began to
notice a theme running through her speech. It began
to sound almost canned and as if she was peddling
someone else’s ideas and thoughts about issues
facing the students. (Things that almost did not seem
to me to be the thoughts of an average 13 year old)

I find it interesting how often I see people attempt to win
the acceptance of those around them just hoping they will
be liked and loved but, not really voicing their own real
ideas, thoughts and opinions? It is as if they are willing
to give away their power in order to gain other peoples
approval. It is truly sad to watch the masses of humanity
just doing what seems to be socially acceptable because
that is what everyone else is saying and doing.

IT IS TIME THAT MORE PEOPLE STAND UP AND
BECOME LEADERS AND VOICE OUR OWN THOUGHTS
AND OPINIONS THAN EVER BEFORE!
That we as a people begin to dream again of a better today
and a better tomorrow where we as people no longer just
go with the flow of average thinkers and average doers. It is
time for us to take our Freedom and Power back and to step
into our voice for what we believe to be truly important!

Enough of my rant…

People ask me all the time how I am able to be so open,
vulnerable, confident, happy, free, and fun? (Like a kid on
summer vacation with no cares in the world) They ask me
if it is possible for them to have my level of energy, joy, and
inner peace? I always say YES! Anyone can be like this
if they choose to BE! It just requires taking your LIFE back
into your own hands and telling the rest of the world that
they are going to play by your rules and not theirs…there
is a nugget of value in the last statement. People are waiting
for leaders like you to rise up and give them permission to be
happy and free again. TO DREAM AND CREATE!

We all were born for more than status quo…

Back to my daughter Lindsey, and “Student Council”.

I asked her where the ideas and thoughts came from
and what she was sharing and how she felt about them.
She said, well dad I care about being on Student Council.
I said, but Lindsey do you care about the issues you are
telling me in your speech? She said “Not Really”.

I said well then my dear it would do you more good to tell
people around you about the the things you do care about
and not what you think they want to hear!

Then yesterday she came home and wanted help knowing
what to put on her campaign flyers she was going to post
and hand out to the other students in order to gain their votes.
I said Lindsey why should they vote for you? She stood their
looking at me with her puppy dog eyes and said “I don’t know?”
Again, I explained to her that she was now doing what I had
told her to avoid before…looking for someone else to tell her
what to say and do to gain approval.

Of course I asked her again, Why should anyone vote for you?
Her answer shocked me. She said, “Because I am going to
be myself and an example of hope and leadership to my school”.

I said, “Wow”! Now that was you and that is all you need. I told
you you knew what to say and what to do. I was beaming with
pride as I am sure you would be as well.

So, anyway I hope this note has inspired you to believe
again if you were lost and hopeless. Or has inflamed your
passion even more if you are already on fire. Maybe empowered
you to be yourself more if you have been giving in to approval.
The only person who has ever really scammed me is ME!

lengths to fulfill our Ego’s desire for more and miss the gift
that comes from our individual authenticity.

SUPER SATURDAY!!!

Numis Network had a Super Saturday event in Tampa today and some big things happened:

Numis Network DVD Chris Kent took the stage and announced the new things for Numis Network reps. We now have a DVD with the overview on it. This is a resource we have really wanted for awhile and it is great to have it,

Then, Chris shared the Numis Network Newsletter. This is a new, powerful way for you to share Numis Network with people.

As we do at all shows, and also one of the reasons you want to always attend Numis Network events, Chris busted out the coin show specials for all reps. Today they had three specials, a Boy Scout Commemorative set, a disabled veteran set and the burnished silver eagle set consisting of the 2006, 2007, 2008 W MS-70 Silver Eagles. The last one sold at the show for $349 and here is what is awesome, we looked up on Ebay and say the 2006 W MS 70 Silver Eagle BY ITSELF selling for $430.

My thoughts on “whats working now”

Hello friends from Jerry Myers,

Well, Dillard is at it again…

he launched his brand new

“What’s Working Now” campaign

today (1pm EST) to be exact.

Everybody is promoting it.

Here’s 3 thoughts I have about it:

#1- I believe it’s going to be about $10
for the first issue. Which features one of my fellow
marketers and total rockstar, Deagan Smith.
Because I have personally seen his deadly online moves

work…$10 for an introduction to his stuff is a joke.

#2- Dillard is being pretty much a genius
behind this whole idea of “What’s Working Now”…
I mean think about it: Mike has one of the
absolute best sized and best qualified “lists”
in our industry. And he is inviting leaders
like Deagan, myself, Budd, Klinger, Fernie, Sieg,

and others to get to broadcast our best stuff to
his list. Thus, he is basically creating an
irresistible offer for people to get the
absolute “cream of the profit crop” from big money
marketers. Plus, he’s giving us a platform to
basically show-off our best stuff, which naturally will end
up attracting new business partners to us.
So Dillard hit the sweet-spot on this (so much
so that I’m like…dang, why didn’t I think of that!).

#3- The “blessing /curse” of the unleashing of
“What’s Working Now” can be summed up like this:
1- Anyone even remotely committed to jacking their
skill sets will be on this program.
2- Everyone in the program will be giving “real-time”
profit-making content from the industry’s top earners.
3- Thus (do the math)…anyone who is NOT in this
has pretty much sentenced themselves to knowledge-poverty,
and in the “information age”, knowledge is the real currency.
(this explains why information marketing is growing at
a staggering rate…and making average people (like myself)
very very able to reinvent their lifestyles.

#4- So all that said, if you really have a burning
desire to set yourself free, and use this industry as
